Leupold RX-1000 Rangefinder Review

I have had the Leupold RX 1000 TBR for a few years now. It has been an excellent rangefinder for me. It is pretty easy to use. You just put a battery in, choose TBR (Slope adjustment) or no TBR, point and press the button on the top to range your target. The rangefinder fits well in my hand which made it very easy to operate. The red text for the range is very easy to read no matter the background or target. I have been able to range deer out to 700 yards and big trees out to 800 yards. I have ranged boulders to 940 yards and cars to 990 yards. The Leupold glass is clear and easy on the eye. I have gotten it to range as close as 5 yards constantly which is great when bow hunting from a tree stand.

The six (6) power magnification helps to find targets and is enough magnification for use in any condition. I have used it in the Rocky Mountains and on the Eastern Plains of Colorado. Altitude has not made a major difference in how effectively and accurately this rangefinder ranges.

Since it’s an older model they can often be found in used condition for about $100, or you can buy the new slightly better RX-1600I with TBR for $299.99. Leupold makes an excellent range finder no matter which one you pick.
